Position Summary
As a core member of the User Interaction Design team, responsible for defining direction and leading the organization in usability analysis and evaluation techniques. In concert with other specialists on the UI Design team and collaborating with various product groups, apply best-practice usability engineering and user-centered design techniques to develop breakthrough designs for the FactoryTalk® suite of products.

Essential Functions

  • Apply full range of usability evaluation methods to new product designs and existing products.
  • Mentor and lead product development teams in the use of usability techniques.
  • Help develop and track metrics related to the usability of individual products and the suite, impact on end-user productivity and satisfaction, and productivity of the UI Design team.
  • Help manage vendor relationships for usability-related tools and consulting.
  • Help develop, evolve, and maintain UI standards and guidelines.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools and methods to support the work of the UI Design team.
  • Produce excellent presentations and written deliverables for a variety of audiences.
  • Some travel required.
  • Education Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, human factors or a related discipline required.
  • Advanced degree desired.
  • Experience Requirements

  • Must have at least 5 years experience in usability testing and related work; at least 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Must have usability experience in commercial software applications on desktop, web, and distributed technologies.
  • Experience in internationalization and cross-cultural usability desired.
  • Experience in industrial automation desired.
  • Six Sigma/Design For Six Sigma certifications desired.
