Gladiator Insects Discovered

Scientific American reports on a new order of insects discovered, Gladiators or Mantophasmatodea, with three living and two extinct species identified so far.  They are similar to grasshoppers, stick insects, and mantises, but belong to none of those existing orders.

This discovery is particularly exciting to me, because Stephen Jay Gould instilled in me an appreciation for classification and morphology and because they are found in Namibia and South Africa
