As promised, here are 200 photos from our trip to the British Virgin Islands. In short, our itinerary went like this:
Friday, January 21 – Fly to San Juan, Puerto Rico
Saturday, January 22 – Take a charter flight to Beef Island, BVI and get a taxi to the 48′ catamaran yacht in Road Town on Tortola
Sunday, January 23 through Friday, January 28 – Sail and motor from island to island, snorkeling, eating, conversing, sleeping, reading (and not much else)
Friday, January 28 – Return to the Road Town marina
Saturday, January 29 – Leave the yacht and take a charter flight back to San Juan
Sunday, January 30 – Return to Baltimore
It was a fabulous and relaxing trip. I snorkled in beautiful coral reefs every day, including on the famous Rhone wreck. I also tried my first intro dive. The weather was warm and sunny most days (with some clouds and cool for an unusual couple of days in the middle). The food on the boat was fabulous, and it was great fun to be with everyone. And boy did we need the break!
It was quite decadent to have the entire catamaran for just the eight of us (plus skipper and first mate). We all knew each other, so it was very exclusive, comfortable, and flexible. I wish every cruise could be so personal!
