Jim & T Are In The House!

Thursday, we cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen.

Friday, the truck arrived and unloaded, while we unpacked, kitchen first.

Saturday, more and more unpacking.

Sunday, even more unpacking.

But we’ve accomplished a HECK of a lot more than we thought we would this quickly.  And the weird layout of the house (especially upstairs) is coming together well now.  I can’t believe we fit this much stuff in our little bungalow in Cleveland, but we did a good job of purging and we aren’t seeing too many things come out of boxes that we wonder why we bothered moving.

We both have dry, sore hands from packing paper and boxes, and Teresa pulled a muscle in her back that’s making her a bit slow.  But we are in the house, and the house is livable.

First big renovation to plan: Central A/C, likely high-velocity to avoid duct work, and probably a heat pump for a secondary heating source.  (The main space on the first floor is heated via a boiler and radiators, but the newer kitchen expansion has only a sorry little in-wall electric heater.  And upstairs, a bunch of god-awful baseboard heaters.)

I tore out some of our excessive cabinetry in the kitchen today to fit our much-larger refrigerator.  And I got to buy a reciprocating saw to do it!  Yippee!

I’m off to Milwaukee for some training tomorrow – yes, Valentine’s Day.  Bummer that I won’t be with my baby, T.  But it’s mandatory training.
