In thinking some more about using this weblog for business purposes, I think I’ve decided against it. It really is just a personal journal that some family and friends read to keep up with what I am up to (and T through association with me ). If I am to do something more related to my business, I probably have to create a new forum. I’ll think about it.
Hugh MacLeod had a comment on his GapingVoid site today that really solidified this decision:
“Pissed off because nobody reads your blog? It’s probably because it’s not specialist enough. Look, I think it’s great that you had scrambled eggs for breakfast, but… Nobody cares.”
Mixing personal and business just isn’t going to work. Any business-related stuff I put on here will be because it might be of interest to people who read this blog. If I decide to do a specialized business blog, then I’ll exploit the power of cross-linking.
I certainly hope that a larger audience will occasionally be interested in something I write, but that’s not my mission… for this site.
