Kruger National Park

I’m very excited about visiting Kruger National Park while we’re in Africa.  I have no idea how long we are staying or what part of the park we’ll be in, but it’s a child-hood dream to go there.  For a great site with pictures and other content try:

I’ve watched science and nature shows ever since I was a wee li’l boy.  Since Teresa’s been with me, I’ve now addicted her to the shows as well.  We’re both amazed that we might catch a glimpse of one of the animals we’ve seen so many beautiful shows about.

I can still remember watching an early episode of NOVA as a small child, a show about the Bubble Boy, an immune-system depressed boy who had to live in a sterile plastic enclosure.  Back then, NOVA had subtitles for the hearing impaired always visible, before the capability was added to television networks.  I’ve seen almost every episode.

I’ve also watched Nature, Wild Kingdom, National Geographic, and anything with David Attenborough.  I’m currently addicted to National Geographic Explorer on Sunday nights (although I wish they would drop the war theme lately) and Crocodile Hunter (although I think I’ve seen every episode 3 times and I want new ones).  I’m don’t watch the Discovery Channel, the Learning Channel, or some of the other lighter science and nature channels, because I don’t like the editorial bent of pseudo-science and spooky sensationalistic stuff, but I’m pretty happy with the National Geographic Channel and Animal Planet.

For background on our trip, read ERROR (South African Christmas) and stay tuned for updates while I’m there if I can get to an Internet cafe.  You can also see a list of all the South Africa related postings from the South Africa link to the left.

P.S.  I just found the NOVA episode on NOVA Online at http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/listseason/04.html.  It was called The Plastic Prison, and originally aired on February 9, 1977 when I was 7 years old.
