Yet Another Lifestyle Change: Brick Bodies

With this huge change in lifestyle, I decided I really needed to focus on fitness.  I’m 35 and I’ve always been a sporadic exerciser – at best.  I’ve gone for as long as 11 months on a fairly regular regime, but then I’ll go without for long periods.  I plan to live to be 120, and I want to be an active, healthy, fit guy at all ages.

Teresa and I have a very healthy diet, and when the weather is good, we’re fairly active.  But forcing myself to go exercise every day has been one of my goals in this move.

We joined Brick Bodies, a local chain with a fabulous women’s exercise center near our house, a co-ed gym near my main distributor’s site, and a downtown site with a lap pool.  It’s only been three weeks, but I’m averaging 4-5 days a week of 1 1/2 to 2 hours of exercise.  This is a huge leap for me.  Even when I was working out previously, it would be 2-3 days a week for 30-45 minutes.

I’m on the road quite often, and my days can be long and crazy, so it’s even more important that I take time for this.  And so far, I’m doing it and enjoying it.  I’m even running on a treadmill – something I’ve always dreaded.  I can tell a difference in my energy and body already.  Now the challenge will be to actually make it a lifestyle and not a fad.

Oh, and my new iPod Shuffle helps too.  <grin>
