Running Toward the End of Winter

I did my first run in a month today. I’m trying not to be a fair-weather runner, but when it’s below 30 degrees F, I just can’t stand it, so I’ve restarted this week.

It wasn’t too bad. I didn’t lose all the fitness I had built up, and I should be back in full swing within a week. And I love that it gives me an excuse to go outside every day (above 30 degrees anyway).

Jim, every day you run is a good day. I had hoped to be in a regular training program by now — the goal being to run in my first 5K this spring. The goal is still there, but I’m with you, it’s got to above 30 before I will venture a run. Do what you can and celebrate that! The rest will come in just a few weeks.

Hi Kelly, I’m training toward a 10k. Even if I don’t actually run a race, I find that having the training program in place really helps me get out there and do it. I’ll send you the program I’m using.
    Cheers,
    Jim
